What you will do:
The System Engineer is responsible for the engineering and technical integrity of work performed and deliverables provided from assigned Systems Engineering tasks. Responsible for creating, sustaining, and troubleshooting complex operational data flows including data storage, data transport, data management, data security, data compliance, and knowledge store management. Coordinate with mission customers to perform exploratory data analysis on raw data to clean, enrich, transform and convert the raw data into the required formats. Apply system technical management, planning, analysis, direction and surveillance over the life cycle of various HPC systems. Ensure technical capabilities, requirements, design, hardware, software, COTS, firmware and technical documentation are controlled under configuration management processes. Identify, coordinate, and control critical system dependencies. Review, assess, and provide recommendations to improve and/or enhance existing HPC configuration control and dependency management processes. Interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts. Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers and technical experts.

The successful candidate shall possess the experience and expertise to perform the following tasks:
- Conduct research into, and apply knowledge of, Government integration and support concepts and related engineering, acquisition, and operations activities as needed to support the system development activities.
- Develop system design solutions that satisfies the system requirements and fulfills the functional analysis.
- Verify the total system requirements throughout the system life cycle to ensure traceability to the technical baseline and product. Conduct system technical planning to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented CM plans and critical dependency processes to ensure integration with customer system engineers.
- Review planned acquisition approaches to support integration schedule alignment with decision maker needs for system support.
- Assist with the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
- Establish and employ Data and Configuration Management capabilities.
- Participate in interface definition, design, and changes to the configuration between affected groups and individuals throughout the life cycle.
- Participate in establishing and gaining approval of the definition of a system or component under development (requirements, designs, interfaces, test procedures, etc.) that provides a common reference point for hardware and software developers.
- Evaluate project Systems Engineering (SE) and review T&E-related SE information to leverage functional analysis; system descriptions; parameter selection and dependencies; Modeling and Simulation; and initial performance risk assessments to inform evaluation planning.
- Review and provide input to program and contract work breakdown structure (WBS), work packages and the integrated master plan (IMP).
- Review, assess, and provide recommendations to improve and/or enhance existing HPC configuration control processes.
- Decompose both hardware and software subsystems to identify the configuration items designated for technical baseline control.
- Document proposed changes to various HPC system Configuration Management Plans (CMPs). Communicate and coordinate proposed CMP process changes with the customer, system vendors and the life-cycle system engineering and technical support teams. Support customer development and implementation of related system CMPs as they evolve best practices.
