Role Description
- Applies system technical management, planning, analysis, direction and surveillance over the life cycle of various HPC systems to ensure that technical capabilities, requirements, design, hardware, software, COTS, firmware and technical documentation are controlled under the configuration management processes of the customer organization. This will ensure technical baseline integrity and traceability of system requirements.
- Reviews, assesses, and provides recommendations to improve and/or enhance existing HPC configuration control processes. Documents proposed changes to various HPC system Configuration Management Plans (CMPs). Communicates and coordinates proposed CMP process changes with the customer, system vendors and the life-cycle system engineering and technical support teams. Supports customer development and implementation of related system CMPs as they evolve best practices.
- Decomposes both hardware and software subsystems to identify the configuration items designated for technical baseline control. Identifies and analyses proposed technical and contract changes that affect the technical baseline for total system impact. Verify the total system requirements throughout the system life cycle to ensure traceability to the technical baseline and product. Conducts system technical planning to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented CM plans and processes to ensure integration with customer system engineers, vendors, operational users, and others to ensure the system requirement are met.
Representative Duties
- Responsible for design, development, and execution of configuration management processes for developmental systems.
- Must create and maintain configuration baselines;
- Use or recommend automated CM tools to implement CM policies and procedures;
- Develop or modify CM Plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental system; and
- Implement Create version control processes, policies, and procedures.
- Manages system configuration management (CM) requirements, design definition, product and operational information to ensure they are consistent, traceable, and controlled at the appropriate level of detail specified by customer.
- Performs logical and systematic application of the CM process into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. Applies technical baseline control at all levels of the total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, code, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
- Analyzes proposed product design changes to determine effects on overall product and system configurable items.
- Establishes change orders and prepares for change authorization and documentation by Vendor and subcontractors.
- Prepares reports of change effect on overall product.
- Reviews and analyzes released engineering change data and coordinates changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities.
- Ensures that customer requirements are implemented and reviews change accounting activity to ensure compliance with configuration management policies.
Qualifications
- Must have two (2) years of CM experience.
- Ansible and GIT Lab experience is a plus.
- Must have fourteen(14) years experience as a SE. Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
